Social media seems to be the buzz word of the moment and many people have used it to great effect for their business and getting brand awareness.
I have helped businesses utilise Blogging, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to help attract their type of people or ‘TRIBE’, clients and potential clients through a mix of innovative methods that don’t come from the usual ‘build it and they will come’ attitude.
I am also a successful keynote speaker on topics such as Social Marketing, Innovation & Creativity, Marketing & Branding and Social Media. I run successful workshops on how to get the best out of social media for business.
I do, occasionally carry out selective speaking, workshops and seminars for the West Cumbria Development Agency (WCDA), Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCi) and I have been interviewed on Radio and in the Press for the work I do with businesses.
Reading the above I seem to have been involved in an awful lot over the past twenty years or so and its true I have but I find if you are passionate about something then you don’t find it a chore and you always find time to ‘do it’.
Watercolour and Social Media are two of my passions.
So while reading this you are partaking in social media whether you know it or not as blogging is a great way to get your message out to other people, or your Tribe, that share your passion. I wrote a blog post on attracting your tribe and this is one of the fundamentals of a successful blog as there is no point in attracting people who don’t share your passions and thoughts.
Taking it one step further and the thought of using social media to promote your brand or business can be quite disconcerting for an artist as this isn’t what we do! When I ran my gallery I only focused on the ‘painting’ side of my business and didn’t really care about the promotion/marketing side and this was a big mistake as I was missing a great opportunity to get my ‘brand’ out there because like it or not you are a brand and letting people and other businesses know this is fundamental in your progression and vital for the growth of your business.
Today we have these fantastic tools at our disposal to help us promote and find other people that are interested in what we do and share a common bond in all things art.
- Twitter is a fantastic tool to send out short bursts of information, no not sales pitches but information that others or your tribe will find interesting but keep this to a minimum as you do not want to be spamming people. The Social Artist Twitter Page
- Facebook creating a page for your business is really easy and well worth doing as this is another fantastic way of letting your tribe know what is happening in your life. Facebook is also a great place to find and join other like minded groups. The Social Artist Facebook Page
- Google+ the new kid on the block and like Facebook can really help you find new members of your tribe and join circles, Google’s version of Facebook groups. The Social Artist Google+ Page
